Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl safety Jordan Poyer’s wife, Rachel Bush, went on a Twitter rant about the circumstances behind her husband’s recently canceled golf event. Earlier on Monday, Poyer revealed his annual charity golf event had been canceled due to pulled funding as a result of the location; Trump National in Doral, Florida.
His wife, Rachel, hit out at the ‘arrogance of others’ as she insisted she and her husband would stand by their beliefs. ‘Let’s be very clear. Jordan did not cancel his event. We will always stand proudly with our beliefs and hold true to them. Publicly,’ Bush tweeted.
She finished by thanking former President Trump and the other sponsors who had supported the event. ‘And huge thank you to Trump & all the amazing sponsors (literally so many!!) that offered to sponsor the tournament,’ she continued in a third and final tweet.
‘And we can easily spend our own money to fund the tournament. It wasn’t about that. Tournament will be at same spot next year. Trump’s course.’In another post she added: ‘The event was cancelled due to the arrogance of others, and then backing out last minute leaving us in a difficult spot to make everything happen properly.
Poyer announced the news of the canceled tournament on Sunday when he said a major partner had pulled out of the event, while his foundation also put out a statement that the tournament was rescheduled for next year.
The All-Pro said Erie County Medical Center a Buffalo hospital, who he described as a ‘big sponsor’ pulled out. ECMC told the Buffalo News they were a ‘beneficiary.’
He took to Instagram overtly exasperated with the outcome and broader state of America – Sunday, to tell his followers that golfers and sponsors had withdrawn ‘last-minute’ due to ‘external pressures.’
‘ECMC decided they can no longer take the pressure from up top, from the people above them, and it probably has nothing to do with ECMC at all,’ Poyer said in the lengthy Instagram video.
‘I’m really thankful and blessed to have worked with the people that I have worked with at ECMC in the past two years,’ he said, before revealing the ostensible, underlying reality of the situation.
‘I’m not naïve. I understand where they are on the political spectrum, where New York is on the political spectrum. Do I agree with a lot of it? No, I don’t. I’m sorry, but I don’t. ‘I say the quiet part out loud a lot and some of you don’t like that. My bad. I still went and put my ego aside and went to go help those who needed help or needed a laugh.’
ECMC’s foundation executive director told The News Saturday; ‘ECMC Foundation was fortunate to be a beneficiary of Jordan Poyer’s golf tournament in Florida. Although the Foundation was not a sponsor, we have had an excellent partnership with Jordan and we respect his decision to cancel his tournament; we hope he will consider supporting us in his future events.’
Poyer admitted while he ‘a little’ upset at the situation, he was more saddened at the state of the US. The 32-year-old Poyer has spent the last six seasons with the Bills after splitting time with the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles.
During his time in Buffalo, he has amassed 582 total tackles, 22 interceptions, and 10 sacks. His career totals in those categories read 706, 24, and 11 respectively. Poyer married his wife in a Caribbean ceremony in 2018, which was also his second year in a Bills uniform, and the couple share a daughter, Aliyah.
Bush boasts 4.1 million Instagram followers and regularly posts sultry photos to her platform. She also has an OnlyFans account and owns her own skincare line called LeaLa Natural Skincare.
Some of Poyer’s Bills teammates showed support for the 32-year-old in the comments section of his video. Quarterback Josh Allen wrote; ‘Love you brother.’ While long snapper Reid Ferguson was a touch more direct; ‘Now you know who not to invite next year! Keep standing tall brother.’
Poyer set up his eponymous foundation on May 17, 2022 with the ‘mindset of supporting those who struggle with mental health and substance abuse of any kind.’ Its mission is to ensure there is ‘support and education to individuals and families affected by substance abuse.’
