Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has announced that he’ll be hosting one of America’s favorite TV shows, Saturday Night Live, in March – not even a month after winning the Super Bowl. The 33-year-old made the revelation while appearing on the latest episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, just a day after a rowdy Super Bowl parade back in Missouri.
‘For sure,’ the two-time Super Bowl champion replied. ‘I mean, growing up, I was a huge like, Farley, Farrell, Fallon, kind of guy growing up and yeah, I used to watch Saturday Night Live with my mother. ‘We have a big announcement that we’re gonna announce here on the show tonight. I’m very excited about this. You’re going to be back in our building in a few weeks. Can you say why you’re coming?’ Fallon asked Kelce.
‘And it’s it’s an absolute honor and a privilege to be hosting SNL, March 4th.’ The eight-time Pro Bowler added that he’s nervous to appear on the show, along with another first-timer, country pop singer Kelsea Ballerino. The tight-end also had one touchdown in the first quarter of the ‘Kelce Bowl’ against his 35-year-old, older brother, Jason, who plays as a center for Philly. The two siblings became the first pair of brothers to play against each other in Super Bowl history.
However, Fallon reassured the NFL star by telling him that he can sing and that ‘he’s so charming’ and ‘fun’. ‘Thank you very much,’ replied a nervous Kelce, who had six receptions for 81 yards in the 38-35 win against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
They recapped their separate experiences to the buildup of America’s most popular broadcast on their podcast, New Heights. In the podcast’s latest episode, Jason and Travis also opened up on an ‘awesome week’ for their mother Donna, who wore Eagles and Chiefs colors on Sunday.
