Scott Mescudi, better known as Kid Cudi, is the latest addition to the cast of Netflix’s highly anticipated sequel, Happy Gilmore 2, starring Adam Sandler. While details about his character remain a mystery, fans are buzzing with excitement over the star-studded lineup.
Joining Mescudi are returning favorites Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald, reprising their roles as Virginia Venit and Shooter McGavin—Sandler’s love interest and his golf rival, respectively. In a fun twist, Travis Kelce and Bad Bunny are also rumored to have cameo appearances, adding even more star power to the film. Production is already underway, so fans won’t have to wait long for updates!
Directed by Kyle Newacheck, who previously worked with Sandler on Murder Mystery, the sequel is penned by Sandler and Tim Herlihy. They are producing alongside Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds, while original director Dennis Dugan serves as an executive producer.
The original Happy Gilmore remains one of Sandler’s most beloved films, following a failed hockey player with a fierce slapshot who discovers a knack for golf. With a compelling mix of humor and heart, the film not only grossed over $82 million worldwide but also earned a devoted fan base.
Mescudi has been making waves recently, appearing in M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap alongside Josh Hartnett and voicing a character in the Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff series, Knuckles. He’s also busy developing his own Sony action comedy, Hell Naw. Represented by WME, Mescudi continues to prove his versatility in both music and acting.
As we eagerly await more news from the Happy Gilmore 2 set, one thing is certain: with this talented cast, the sequel promises to deliver the same blend of laughs and heartfelt moments that fans loved in the original!
