The first trailer for The Brutalist, directed by Brady Corbet and featuring Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones, has just dropped, and it’s a visual feast that promises an epic story of resilience and reinvention.
In this gripping tale, visionary architect László Toth (Brody) and his wife Erzsébet (Jones) escape the devastation of post-war Europe in 1947. As they embark on a journey to rebuild their legacy in America, their lives take a dramatic turn when they encounter a mysterious and affluent client, altering their destiny forever.
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Isaach De Bankolé, Alessandro Nivola, Ariane Labed, Michael Epp, Emma Laird, Jonathan Hyde, and Peter Polycarpou.
After premiering at the 81st Venice Film Festival, The Brutalist received praise from Variety critic Owen Gleiberman, who noted it as “an echt-American tale of immigration and ambition.” The film delves into the complexities of artistic identity and Jewish heritage in a world filled with ambivalence. Gleiberman reflects that while the film’s themes may resonate differently for each viewer, it poignantly captures a man’s life unfolding before our eyes.
Corbet co-wrote the script with Mona Fastvold, bringing together a dedicated production team, including executive producers Mark Gillespie, Jiarui Guo, and many others.
Mark your calendars! The Brutalist will open in limited release on December 20. Don’t miss the chance to watch the trailer below and get ready for an inspiring journey that explores the depths of ambition, identity, and the quest for belonging!
