Get ready for a wild ride! Ketchup Entertainment has officially announced that “The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie” will hit theaters on February 28, 2025. Originally developed for Max, this animated adventure is poised to delight fans of all ages!
A Premiere to Remember
After making waves at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June, where it received rave reviews from critics, the film will make its North American premiere at the Animation Is Film festival. It’s not just a showcase; this screening will qualify the movie for the Best Animated Feature Oscar race—an exciting prospect for the creators!
What’s the Movie About?
Directed by the talented Pete Browngardt, the film features beloved characters Porky Pig and Daffy Duck teaming up to fend off an impending alien invasion. Ketchup Entertainment CEO Gareth West expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “For generations, the Looney Tunes have held a soft spot in the hearts of fans, including my own. We’re thrilled to bring this hilariously smart and emotionally engaging story to the big screen.”
Behind the Scenes
The screenplay boasts contributions from a talented team, including Darrick Bachman, Kevin Costello, and Andrew Dickman. Executive producers Sam Register and Browngardt have ensured that the film retains the classic charm and humor of the Looney Tunes franchise while delivering a fresh cinematic experience.
A Bright Future for Looney Tunes
Unlike other projects, such as Coyote vs. Acme, which faced a tumultuous release, “The Day The Earth Blew Up” is set to shine. Sales were initiated at the American Film Market by GFM Animation, signaling a strong push for its theatrical debut.
