Reflecting on their close bond formed during their childhood, Harry noted how the ongoing tensions have led to estrangement. He recalled an instance when a story emerged claiming that Meghan and he were leaving the royal family because William had bullied them out. After a meeting, Harry learned that a joint statement had been released, purportedly from him and William, denying the bullying claims.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Harry said, expressing his disbelief that no one had sought his permission for such a statement. He recounted calling Meghan to inform her, leading to her emotional response: “She burst into floods of tears because within four hours they were happy to lie to protect my brother and yet for three years, they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.”
Despite these ongoing tensions, the royal family made a public gesture by wishing Harry a happy 40th birthday this year. The family’s official social media accounts shared a celebratory post featuring a photo of Harry, with both William and Kate Middleton’s accounts also extending birthday wishes.
