Drake Hogestyn, renowned for his role as John Black on the iconic soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” has sadly passed away at the age of 70 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. His family shared the news in a heartfelt statement on the show’s official Instagram account.

“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Drake Hogestyn,” the family wrote. “He faced the challenge of his diagnosis with incredible strength and determination. After a valiant fight, he passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.”

Reports from major outlets like Variety and the Hollywood Reporter confirmed his death. The family described Hogestyn as an “amazing husband, father, papa, and actor,” emphasizing his deep love for performing and his cherished relationships with the cast, crew, and production team of “Days of Our Lives.”

“We love him and we will miss him all the Days of Our Lives,” the statement concluded.

Hogestyn made his debut on the show in 1986, appearing in over 4,200 episodes throughout his tenure. His contributions to the series earned him multiple accolades, including Soap Opera Digest Awards for Hottest Male Star in 1994 and 1995, as well as a win for Favorite Couple in 2005.
