Josh O’Connor is set to lead the cast of Kelly Reichardt’s new film, The Mastermind, which focuses on a daring art heist during the Vietnam War. Reichardt will both write and direct the project, with production slated to begin later this year.
The film is produced by Neil Kopp, Anish Savjani, and Vincent Savino of filmscience, with MUBI financing and distributing in select territories, including North America, the UK, Ireland, Latin America, Germany, Austria, Benelux, Turkey, and India. The Match Factory will handle worldwide sales outside those regions. This marks MUBI’s second collaboration with Reichardt, following their successful partnership on First Cow.
O’Connor continues to shine this year, co-starring alongside Zendaya and Mike Faist in Amazon’s Challengers and appearing with Kate Winslet in the drama Lee. He will also feature in the upcoming Knives Out film, Wake Up Dead Man, along with other notable projects like La Chimera and PBS’ Romeo and Juliet.
Reichardt is represented by UTA and Sloss Eckhouse Dasti Haynes LawCo, while O’Connor is represented by CAA, Independent Talent Group, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
