Band Reveals New Music, Tour Dates, and the First Release in Seven Years
In a major announcement on September 4, Linkin Park unveiled a new chapter in their storied career, introducing Emily Armstrong from the rock band Dead Sara as their new co-vocalist. The band also announced Colin Brittain, known for his work with G Flip and Illenium, as their new drummer. This fresh lineup will accompany the release of their new album, From Zero, set to hit shelves on November 15.
New Lineup and Fresh Sound
The announcement came with a surge of excitement, marked by the release of the band’s first new music in seven years. The new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” dropped alongside a live performance event that showcased the band’s revamped sound and direction. Linkin Park performed together for the first time since the death of their previous lead vocalist, Chester Bennington, in a special event held in Los Angeles. The live performance was streamed and remains available on Linkin Park’s official channels for 24 hours.
Emily Armstrong’s addition to the band marks a significant shift. Known for her powerful vocals with Dead Sara, Armstrong’s selection brings a new dynamic to Linkin Park’s sound. Colin Brittain’s role as drummer also marks a pivotal change, bringing his expertise and fresh perspective to the group.
Upcoming Album and Tour Details
From Zero, the band’s first full-length album since 2017’s One More Light, will explore both the past and future of Linkin Park’s musical journey. “Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero,” said Mike Shinoda, the band’s co-vocalist and guitarist. “This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future — embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life.”
The album’s lead single, “The Emptiness Machine,” is said to capture the essence of Linkin Park’s musical DNA while exploring new sonic territories. The band is enthusiastic about this new era, with Shinoda expressing their excitement for the new lineup and the vibrant energy they bring to their music.
In support of From Zero, Linkin Park will embark on a six-date arena tour, kicking off in Los Angeles on September 11. The tour will include stops in major cities across the globe:
- Sept. 11 – Los Angeles, CA @ Kia Forum
- Sept. 16 – New York, NY @ Barclays Center

- Sept. 24 – London, UK @ The O2
- Sept. 28 – Seoul, South Korea @ Inspire Arena
- Nov. 11 – Bogota, Colombia @ Coliseo Medplus
Pre-sale tickets for the From Zero tour will be available to LP Underground fan club members starting September 6, with general ticket sales opening on September 7.
Reflecting on the Past and Looking Forward
The announcement of the new album and tour follows the release of Linkin Park’s “Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023)” earlier this spring. This compilation featured the band’s greatest hits and highlighted their influence over two decades. The collection included classics like “In the End,” “Burn It Down,” and the Jay-Z mash-up “Numb/Encore.”
Linkin Park’s last live performance before this announcement was a tribute concert for Chester Bennington in October 2017. That emotional event, held just months after Bennington’s tragic death, was a cathartic experience for the band and their fans. Reflecting on the experience, Shinoda described the challenge of performing without Bennington but emphasized the importance of honoring his memory.
The introduction of Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain into the lineup marks a new beginning for Linkin Park, one that balances respect for their past with excitement for the future. As they prepare to take the stage once again, both the band and their fans are eager to see what this new era will bring.
