Finding the latest movie releases can be tricky, especially with recent shifts in release dates due to the Hollywood strikes. Now that the WGA and actors’ strikes have been resolved, September is bursting with both major blockbusters and intriguing indie films.
Kicking off on September 6 is the much-anticipated sequel to the 1988 comedy horror classic, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” This new installment continues the story with the rebellious teenage daughter of Lydia Deetz who accidentally resurrects the mischievous ghost in Winter River. The film features Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, and Jenna Ortega.
Also premiering on Friday is A24’s “The Front Room,” a horror thriller about a newly pregnant family forced to take in a sickly estranged mother-in-law. The film stars Brandy Norwood, Andrew Burnap, Kathryn Hunter, and Neal Huff.
In addition to these wide releases, a few films will be available in limited release this week:
- “The Paragon”: A comedy about a hit-and-run victim who gains psychic abilities to seek revenge.
- “The Mother of All Lies”: A documentary following a Moroccan woman as she searches for truth in her complicated family history.
