Lara Trump’s latest musical venture has hit a sour note with listeners, as her cover of the song “Hero,” a tribute to emergency first responders, has been met with severe criticism and online ridicule. Released on Labor Day in collaboration with Florida-based singer Madeline Jaymes, the three-minute track has quickly gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

The backlash has been swift and scathing, with many accusing Trump of heavily auto-tuning her performance. Critics took to social media to express their disdain, with some likening the song to a “wild hog and a sack of rusty cans being thrown into an industrial wood chipper,” as described by Democratic political strategist Rick Wilson.

Political commentator Travis Akers chimed in with a biting remark, saying, “If your ears have been exposed to the abominable sounds of Lara Trump singing, you might be entitled to compensation.” Another user on X (formerly known as Twitter) was less subtle, stating, “Naaaahhhh, it’s all in good fun. Comparing Lara Trump to any living life form is an insult to all living life forms.”

The criticism extended beyond the song itself. Users mocked Trump’s vocal performance, with comments such as, “Her voice is horrible. She croaks like a frog and looks like one with all the plastic she’s had done,” and “Every note is a violation of the Geneva Convention.” The overall sentiment was that Trump’s attempt at singing was not only poorly executed but also inauthentic, which led to comparisons with other public figures in disparaging contexts.

One user, claiming to be a former music teacher, noted, “As a former music teacher, I can tell you this is pitch corrected all through, which means it must have sounded even worse to begin with.” Another critic asked, “Why would anyone hang out on a fire escape in an evening gown?” referring to the song’s music video.

Lara Trump, who is the wife of Donald Trump’s third son Eric Trump and co-chair of the Republican National Committee, has been involved in various roles in media and politics. She previously worked as a producer and host for Trump Productions’ Real News and has been a contributor to Fox News. She has also played a significant role in Trump’s presidential campaigns and recently announced a large-scale task force for the upcoming elections.

Despite the harsh reviews, Trump’s effort to pay tribute to first responders through her music remains her intention, though the reception has been anything but kind. The stark contrast between the song’s intended tribute and the public’s reaction underscores the challenges of stepping into the spotlight with a new creative endeavor, especially when it involves a high level of scrutiny.
