France TV Distribution, the global sales and co-production arm of France Télévisions Group, is set to introduce its latest young adult drama, A Night to Live, at the upcoming Unifrance Rendez-Vous, running from September 2-6 in Le Havre.

Distributed worldwide by France TV Distribution, the largest TV exporter in France, A Night to Live is produced by Wanda Productions, a Paris-based company known for its work in TV commercials, music videos, and more. The eight-part series, each episode lasting 26 minutes, will have its world premiere in the French competition at La Rochelle’s Festival de la Fiction, which takes place from September 10-15.

The series, titled Nos vies en l’air in French, is penned by Margaux Bonhomme, whose previous work Head Above Water received two César nominations, and Victor Lockwood, known for Mental and Nudes. Slated to air on France Télévisions’ youth-oriented Slash TV, the series explores the lives of two teenagers, Mina and Ocean, who meet on a Parisian rooftop as they contemplate suicide. Despite coming from vastly different backgrounds—Mina from the impoverished Belleville district and Ocean from a wealthy family—they form a bond and decide to give life one last chance before making any final decisions.

Inès Kermas stars as Mina, while Anthony Goffi, known for Déter, plays Ocean. The series is adapted from Manon Fargetton’s novel of the same name and is directed by Anthony Jorge and Jonathan Cohen-Berry, the team behind the acclaimed short-format series First Love, which won best short format series at Series Mania 2018.

The creators of A Night to Live address the sensitive subject of suicide, the second leading cause of death among individuals aged 15 to 24, emphasizing its taboo nature and the difficulty young people face in seeking help for mental health issues. They hope the series will inspire teenagers to open up about their struggles and reflect the complex realities of youth and mental health.
