Fans of “The Traitors” U.K. have reason to celebrate as the BBC has confirmed both a fourth season of the hit psychological gameshow and a new celebrity edition. The announcements were made at the Edinburgh TV Festival, with production for the third season already completed in the Scottish Highlands.
Details regarding participants and broadcast dates for both the celebrity edition and the upcoming fourth season are still to be revealed. Season 4 will feature 12 episodes, while the celebrity version will consist of nine episodes. Claudia Winkleman will continue as host, with Studio Lambert, part of All3Media, producing the series.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, the BBC’s head of entertainment, expressed excitement about the new seasons, highlighting the anticipated intrigue and strategic gameplay. “The Traitors has become a standout show of the year, and the addition of a celebrity edition will elevate the series even further. We’re eager to see how celebrities handle the mind games and deception,” Patel-Knight said.
Mike Cotton, creative director at Studio Lambert and executive producer of the show, also shared enthusiasm for the new developments. “We’re thrilled to see celebrities join the game, and it will be fascinating to watch them navigate the challenges of ‘The Traitors’. With both the new season and the celebrity edition, there’s a lot more treachery to look forward to,” Cotton noted.
In addition to the new seasons of “The Traitors,” the BBC announced other new projects at the festival. These include the sitcom “Can You Keep a Secret?” starring Dawn French, written by Simon Mayhew-Archer, and a two-part documentary titled “Signs for Living,” featuring Rose Ayling-Ellis and focusing on teaching British Sign Language to older adults.
The BBC also revealed that “Strictly Come Dancing” will offer live British Sign Language interpretation for the first time in its 20-year history, part of a broader initiative celebrating British Sign Language next year.
