The star power of Brad Pitt and George Clooney is so immense that AppleTV+ has already greenlit a sequel to their upcoming film, Wolfs, even before its premiere. The streaming giant announced on Wednesday that they have enlisted Jon Watts, the writer-director of Wolfs, to craft the follow-up.
Matt Dentler, head of features for Apple Original Films, expressed enthusiasm about the sequel, praising the film’s blend of comedy, action, and drama. “With George and Brad’s remarkable chemistry and Jon Watts’ exceptional direction, Wolfs promises to be a hugely entertaining movie. We’re thrilled to see how audiences react and are eager to start working on the sequel,” Dentler said in a press release.
It has been over 15 years since Clooney and Pitt last appeared together on screen in the 2008 film Burn After Reading. Their previous collaborations include the Ocean’s franchise, with Ocean’s Thirteen being the last installment released in 2007. Fans are eagerly anticipating the duo’s return for another comedic crime caper.
During an interview with ET’s Cassie DiLaura at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, Clooney humorously mentioned Pitt’s need for work, joking about his “up and comer” status. “Pretty boy, Pitt,” Clooney quipped, referring to his longtime friend.
Both actors have also taken a financial hit to ensure their film sees a theatrical release in addition to streaming. “Brad and I agreed to take less money if it meant we could secure a theatrical release,” Clooney revealed. “Apple came through with a significant offer, and we were pleased to make it work.”
In Wolfs, Clooney plays Jack, a professional fixer hired to cover up a high-profile crime at a hotel. However, his plans are disrupted when another fixer, Nick (Pitt), arrives, claiming he’s been hired for the same job. The two “lone wolves” must join forces to unravel the mystery of who set them up and why.
