‘House of the Dragon’ Renewed for Season 3 Ahead of Season 2 Finale
The ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel, House of the Dragon, has been renewed for a third season before the second season even premiered. The highly anticipated third season promises more epic battles and drama as the series continues its exploration of the “Dance of Dragons.”
Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, expressed excitement about the show’s future: “George, Ryan, and our remarkable team have taken the second season of House of the Dragon to new heights. We are thrilled to continue the journey of House Targaryen and are eager to see the team shine once more in season 3.”
The upcoming season will likely delve deeper into the “Dance of Dragons” storyline, based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. This narrative unfolds nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
The cast from season 2 is expected to return, assuming their characters survive the season 2 finale. This includes stars such as Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Olivia Cooke, and many more.
In addition to House of the Dragon, another Game of Thrones prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is also in development. This series, based on Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, will feature Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell. It’s scheduled to premiere in 2025.
Both seasons of House of the Dragon are currently available for streaming on HBO and Max, with season 3 set to continue the epic saga.
