Chris Evans and Alba Baptista are contemplating expanding their family, but their decision comes with a heartwarming dilemma. The couple, who are already parents to their beloved dog Dodger, are torn between adopting a new puppy or providing a loving home to an older dog in need.
In a recent interview with People magazine, Evans shared their thought process, revealing that they have been considering adding another dog to their family. “We both need a little bit of downtime for that,” Evans said. “We’ve always said, ‘Well, maybe we’ll just go down to the shelter,’ and I’m like, ‘Listen, do you think we’re going to walk down there and not leave with at least one dog?’ There’s no way. So if we decide to actually walk in the door, we’re walking out with one.”
Despite their deliberations, the couple has yet to make a concrete decision. Evans noted that they would need to take some time off to adequately prepare for another pet. Their affection for older dogs has influenced their consideration, as they are particularly moved by stories of older dogs finding new homes after difficult lives.
Evans has long been a supporter of canine welfare. Since 2022, he has been involved with Jinx, a premium dog food brand that emphasizes the importance of good nutrition for pets. Jinx has recently announced a partnership with the United Service Organization (USO), donating five percent of every purchase at Walmart to support active military personnel and the USO Canine Program. Evans’ involvement with Jinx stems from his personal experience and Dodger’s love for their products.
“The end of the day, Dodger is the real temperature check for me. He loves it, and that’s all I needed to be a part of this,” Evans shared. He also mentioned Dodger’s amusing behavior and how, even at ten years old, Dodger continues to bring joy to his life.
As for the prospect of introducing another dog into their home, Evans expressed some uncertainty about how Dodger would adjust, particularly at bedtime. “I wish I knew if it’s what he wanted. I wish I could just ask him because he loves being around dogs. But when it’s bedtime, if another dog is coming in the room, he might be like, ‘Hold on.’ So I don’t know,” Evans admitted.
In addition to his personal life, Evans has recently made headlines with his return as Johnny Storm in Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine. Reflecting on his experience, Evans described it as unforgettable and expressed his gratitude to the cast and director, including Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, for making his return possible.
As Chris Evans and Alba Baptista consider their next steps, their dedication to giving another dog a loving home showcases their compassion and commitment to animal welfare.
