The US Olympic and Paralympic Committee has initiated legal action against Prime, the energy drink brand associated with Logan Paul and KSI, alleging trademark infringement. The lawsuit, filed in Colorado, accuses Prime of unlawfully using Olympic phrases and symbols without authorization, particularly on a special edition featuring basketball star Kevin Durant.
According to the committee, Prime’s actions were deliberate and in bad faith, asserting that the brand used the trademarks in internet campaigns and promotions despite receiving a cease and desist letter. The lawsuit contends that consumers could be misled into believing there is an official association between Prime and the US Olympic Committee.
Prime, which markets both caffeinated and caffeine-free hydration drinks, has previously faced criticism for its high caffeine content and targeting of younger audiences. The brand has defended itself by stating compliance with regulatory standards in all operating countries.
Founded by Logan Paul and KSI, who collectively boast over 40 million YouTube followers, Prime has garnered attention for collaborations with major sports teams like Arsenal and the LA Dodgers since its 2022 UK launch.
