New Delhi: The recently inaugurated BAPS Hindu Mandir in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) witnessed an overwhelming response as it opened its doors to the public for the first time. The temple, graced by the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during its inauguration, became a pilgrimage site for nearly 65,000 devotees on its inaugural Sunday.
Drawing attention to the seamless management of the crowds, Sumant Rai, a visitor, expressed his awe, “Never have I seen such amazing order in the midst of thousands of people.” He further added, “I was worried I would have to wait for hours and not be able to do darshan peacefully, but we had amazing darshan and were extremely satisfied. Hats off to all the BAPS volunteers and mandir staff.”
The architectural splendor of the temple also garnered praise from visitors worldwide. Louis from Mexico admired, “The architecture and intricate details in the stones are amazing. I really appreciate getting to see the cultural heritage of India. People, come join!” Such sentiments highlight the significance of cultural exchange and appreciation that the temple fosters.
Beyond its architectural marvels, the BAPS Hindu Mandir holds diplomatic significance as well. Piyush, a US-based observer, remarked, “The opening of this Mandir is a testament to the UAE’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. It’s a beautiful representation of unity among different communities.” Indeed, the temple stands as a beacon of religious harmony and tolerance in the region.
Recognizing the importance of accessibility, the UAE government launched a new bus route (203) from Abu Dhabi to the Mandir to facilitate weekend visits. This initiative underscores the efforts to ensure that people from all walks of life can partake in the spiritual experience offered by the temple.
The Abu Dhabi-based temple was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on February 14, symbolizing the strong bonds between India and the UAE. The ceremony, graced by UAE’s tolerance and co-existence minister Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahyan, marked a historic moment in the UAE’s cultural landscape.
The BAPS Hindu Mandir’s inaugural day witnessed a convergence of spirituality, architectural magnificence, and diplomatic significance. As it continues to welcome devotees from around the world, the temple serves as a testament to the values of unity, diversity, and mutual respect that define both India and the UAE.
