The film was shot in Toronto, Ontario, in the summer of 2021. King himself has given his blessing to the redo’s script, which is a decent sign. King is famously specific with regards to adaptations of his work, with his biggest criticism focused on Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. His endorsement indicates that the script will probably stick closely to the plot of the book, since King seriously don’t really like unnecessary changes to his work.
King remains the unchallenged leader of frightfulness through the composed word, having consistently unnerved audiences with his novels since the 1970s with his visceral details and character-focused narratives, covering genres from thrill ride to sci-fi to high fantasy. This immense collection of work has given way to some of the scariest movie adaptations ever, with later examples including Gerald’s Down, 1922, and the previously mentioned films above. With such a wide list, not each variation will work out (such as the abysmal Cell) yet with a fresh promising director, and a possibly strong focal performance from Efron, Firestarter could touch off audiences all over.

Stephen King’s Firestarter has been given a release date of May 13, 2022, for theaters and streaming on Peacock. The movie will star Zac Efron, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, and Michael Greyeyes, and will be coordinated by The Vigil director Keith Thomas. The movie will be the second immediate transformation of King’s novel, with the first variation being released in 1984, starring Drew Barrymore and George C. Scott as well as a television miniseries sequel that was released in 2002.
Firestarter tells the story of a father whose little girl develops pyrokinesis, the capacity to control fire with her brain. The two must then go on the run from an administration organization that wants to control the power and use it for their own means. Firestarter will convey a R-rating that prohibits youngsters younger than 17 permission without a grown-up, common of most previous King film adaptations including the new It, Pet Semetary, and Doctor Sleep.
