On August 7, BLACKPINK marked a significant milestone as they celebrated their 8th debut anniversary since their 2016 debut. Despite their busy schedules and global travels, the quartet—Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa—came together in Korea to share the special occasion with their fans.
As the clock struck midnight in Korea, BLACKPINK’s official social media accounts and Weverse lit up with celebratory posts, announcing a live session with all four members. Fans were ecstatic to see Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa reunite after months of focusing on their solo projects. During the live stream, the group enjoyed a festive celebration with two cakes, sang a birthday song, and engaged in heartfelt chats with their fans.
The members reflected on their time apart, with Rosé humorously claiming she was the “best and luckiest” for having recently met up with the others. The reunion also included playful teasing of the youngest member, Lisa. Jisoo and Rosé joked about Lisa’s upcoming acting debut in The White Lotus Season 3, while Jennie quipped about Lisa skipping the ROCKSTAR dance challenge.
Lisa was seen in her signature black and pink attire, fitting perfectly with the BLACKPINK theme. Jennie and Jisoo shared that they felt a bit lonely during their solo activities, but the live session brought them all back together. Before concluding the livestream, the members hinted at the possibility of another live session the following day.
BLACKPINK, consisting of Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé, initially debuted under YG Entertainment with their single album Square One. The group has since released numerous hits, including “Boombayah,” “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” “Kill This Love,” and “Pink Venom.”
In December 2023, the members opted not to renew their individual contracts with YG Entertainment but chose to renew their group contract, allowing BLACKPINK to continue with the agency. Each member has pursued solo projects through various avenues: Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo have established their own labels, while Rosé is considering her options but is currently managed by Teddy’s The Black Label in South Korea. Despite their solo endeavors, BLACKPINK continues to thrive as a group, with each member expanding their careers through brand deals, collaborations, and music releases.
