Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi has delivered disappointing news to his fans in the UAE as he announced the cancellation of his Dubai show scheduled for October. This decision comes in the wake of Capaldi’s recent performance at the Glastonbury Festival, where he appeared to struggle with his voice, prompting concerns about his health and well-being.
Capaldi, known for his soulful ballads and charismatic stage presence, was slated to perform in Dubai for the third time this October, following successful performances in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah in previous years. However, following his recent challenges with vocal issues and concerns about his health, Capaldi has made the difficult decision to take a break from touring for the foreseeable future.
The announcement was confirmed by Coca-Cola Arena, the venue hosting Capaldi’s Dubai concert, stating, “The Lewis Capaldi concert scheduled for October 27, 2023, and produced by MAC Global will no longer take place. We wish Lewis a speedy recovery and admire his decision to put his health first.”
For those who have already purchased tickets to the event, Coca-Cola Arena assures that all tickets will be automatically refunded to the same card used for the transaction. However, they advise patience as the refund process may take up to 21 working days from June 27th.
Capaldi’s decision to cancel his upcoming shows stems from his ongoing battle with Tourette syndrome, a neurological disorder characterized by involuntary sounds and movements, known as tics. Capaldi revealed his diagnosis with the condition last September and has since been navigating its impact on his career and personal life.
In a statement addressing his decision to take a hiatus from touring, Capaldi expressed the need to prioritize his mental and physical health, stating, “I need to spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order, so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time to come.”
Despite the setback, Capaldi remains optimistic about his future endeavors, acknowledging the challenges posed by Tourette’s while expressing gratitude for having his symptoms diagnosed. His resilience and determination to overcome obstacles have been evident throughout his career, earning him praise and admiration from fans worldwide.
As fans await Capaldi’s return to the stage, they can take solace in knowing that his health and well-being remain a top priority. While his Dubai concert may be postponed for now, the spirit of his music and the anticipation of his eventual return continue to resonate with audiences around the globe.
