Just days before the sixth of eight episodes in The Dropout debuts on Hulu, star Amanda Seyfried stepped out in New York City to promote the series.
The 36-year-old actress plays Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in the critically-acclaimed series, which debuted on March 3.The actress was joined by co-stars Sam Waterston and William H.Macy along with series creator Liz Merriwether and Rebecca Jarvis, who hosted the ABC News podcast the series is based on.
Seyfried stepped out with a lacy red floral print dress that fell all the way to her ankles for the event.She was all smiles on the red carpet for the event, held at 92 Y in New York City on Tuesday night.
The actress completed her look with a pair of black pumps as she hit the red carpet before the event.The Dropout is based on the remarkable true story of Elizabeth Holmes, who founded Theranos at just 19 years of age.
She would ultimately become named by Forbes as the youngest self-made billionaire ever, based on the $9 billion valuation of Theranos.
Her downfall came in 2015 when a series of investigations by journalists and others revealed she had defrauded investors based on false claims of the company’s blood-testing technology.
Holmes was ultimately indicted with Theranos COO Ramesh Balwani, and convicted in her trial, which ended in January 2022.She faces upwards of 20 years in federal prison, along with paying millions of dollars in restitution and fines.
