The Weeknd has revealed the title of his upcoming album, the final installment in his trilogy that began with “After Hours” and continued with “Dawn FM.” The new album, titled “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” marks the conclusion of this creative journey.
Accompanying the announcement is a dramatic and introspective message filled with self-referential lyrics and intense symphonic music. The statement reads, “Today has felt like an endless spin. I keep distorting the truth, immune to the dizziness, numb to the nausea. What lies beneath — screams in silence ‘I look in the mirror and feel both old and new, stuck in limbo and unable to move. I still haven’t faced myself…’ The very thing that once made me invincible failed me on the world stage. A new trauma surfaced. When today ends, I’ll discover who I am. ‘HURRY UP TOMORROW.’”
The Weeknd describes the album as the creative pinnacle of the trilogy, emphasizing its existential and self-referential themes. The release date for “Hurry Up Tomorrow” has not yet been announced.
In addition to the album announcement, The Weeknd has a busy fall ahead. He will perform a special livestreamed concert at Estádio Morumbi in São Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday. He is also donating 10% of net proceeds from merchandise sales at the event and online to the Brazilian Soul Fund of BrazilFoundation, aiding communities affected by natural disasters and economic hardships in southern Brazil.
The Weeknd is also debuting his “Halloween Horror Nights” experience at Universal Studios, titled “The Weeknd: Nightmare Trilogy,” which runs from September 5 to November 3. Next month, he will wrap up his two-year “After Hours Til the Dawn” tour with four shows in Australia: two in Melbourne on October 5 and 6, and two in Sydney on October 22 and 23.
The artist teased the new album in July with a surreal Instagram clip featuring dream-like imagery from his past work, including references to “Blinding Lights,” “Dawn FM,” and his recent tour. The clip, set to hazy synthesizer music, suggests themes of death, redemption, and rebirth.
Earlier in June 2023, The Weeknd hinted at the album’s title during an interview about his HBO drama “The Idol,” stating that while fans might speculate on the title, it is not what they think, and the actual title will be revealed soon.
