Kylie Jenner, the 27-year-old beauty mogul and mother of two, has candidly shared her experiences with postpartum depression following the births of her children, Stormi Webster and Aire Webster. In an intimate interview with British Vogue, Jenner discussed the challenges she faced both mentally and emotionally during her postpartum journey.

Jenner, who welcomed her daughter Stormi in 2018 and her son Aire in 2022 with ex-partner Travis Scott, revealed that she struggled with postpartum depression for about a year after each childbirth. Reflecting on her experience, Jenner admitted, “I’m going to be 27, and I’m finally feeling like myself again. Looking back, I think being pregnant, I wore sweatpants every day, and I didn’t have time to figure out even some of the little things in my life. Postpartum lasted a year. Mentally, it’s really hard. Hormonally, it’s really hard.”

The reality star and entrepreneur acknowledged that her young age played a role in her initial struggle. She was just 20 when she gave birth to Stormi, a significant life change that she found overwhelming. “It was wild… It didn’t hit me [straight away]. But it was a huge life change,” Jenner confessed. Despite being familiar with the concept of postpartum depression, experiencing it firsthand was a different challenge entirely.

Jenner’s second bout with postpartum depression was notably intense. She described her second postpartum experience as having “major baby blues,” which led to heightened emotional responses. “It hit me differently both times,” she explained. “Probably with my son, it was major baby blues, so I was just so emotional over things that I probably wouldn’t be that emotional about. On the phone with my mom all day, hysterically crying, saying, ‘I can’t figure out his name.’”

The difficulty in choosing a name for her son was particularly distressing for Jenner. She admitted that the task became nearly impossible under the weight of her postpartum emotions. “I felt like a failure when I couldn’t name him,” Jenner said. “When I met him, he was just the most beautiful thing to me, and I couldn’t believe just how perfect he was. I felt like such a failure that I couldn’t name him. He deserved so much more than that. It just really triggered me.”

Jenner’s openness about her struggles provides valuable insight into the realities of postpartum depression, especially for those who might be facing similar challenges. Her experience underscores the importance of support and preparation in navigating the complexities of new motherhood.

Despite the difficulties, Jenner has found solace and perspective through her children. “No matter what I’m going through or what I look like or what the internet writes about me that day,” she shared, “I come home, and my kids just love me unconditionally. They’re just obsessed with me, and that’s taught me to walk through life a little easier. I’m like, ‘OK, well, I have these little humans at home that need me and love me and think I’m the most perfect person in the world, so I don’t really need validation from outside sources.’”

Kylie Jenner’s candid account of her postpartum journey offers an inspiring reminder of the profound impact children can have on their parents, providing a source of unconditional love and strength amid life’s challenges.
