Ryan Reynolds took a humorous jab at his past superhero film Green Lantern, declaring he’d rather watch Paw Patrol on a continuous loop than revisit the 2011 film. During a recent Vanity Fair interview, Reynolds, known for his quick wit, was put on the spot by Hugh Jackman and asked if he had ever watched Green Lantern with his family.
In true Reynolds fashion, he responded with a laugh, saying, “I would genuinely rather watch a 24-hour marathon of Paw Patrol.” He added, “I haven’t watched it with my family. My kids have only seen the trailer, and I watched it myself during the pandemic—after finishing every streaming service and even watching Bob Ross specials in reverse.” He humorously noted that he was “a little drunk” when he finally watched the film.
Despite his critical remarks about Green Lantern, Reynolds has fond memories from the film, notably meeting his future wife, Blake Lively. The two met during filming, began dating after its release, and married in September 2012.
Green Lantern, which faced criticism for its script and visual effects, is set for a revival under James Gunn’s direction. The character will return in the 2025 Superman film and is featured in HBO’s upcoming Lanterns series.
Currently, Reynolds is enjoying success with Deadpool & Wolverine, which has been generating buzz and breaking box office records. The film, directed by Shawn Levy, sees Reynolds and Hugh Jackman return, alongside a star-studded cast including Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, and special cameos from Dafne Keen, Jennifer Garner, and Henry Cavill.
