La Jolla, California, has seen the recent sale of the iconic “Razor House,” a property famously inspired by Tony Stark’s mansion in the “Iron Man” films. Listed for $24.995 million by Josh Altman and Matt Altman of Douglas Elliman in June, the stunning residence found a swift buyer within a week and closed the sale for $20.8 million this Monday.

Formerly owned by Donald Burns, the ex-CEO of magicJack, who acquired it for approximately $14.1 million in 2011, the Razor House underwent extensive renovations over nearly three years. Burns decided to list the property for $30 million in August last year but previously removed it from the market in April 2019 during a listing with Coldwell Banker.

Designed by acclaimed architect Wallace E. Cunningham, the modern marvel is perched dramatically against a rugged coastal bluff, offering unparalleled panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Spread across 11,545 square feet, the residence boasts a luxurious interior featuring four bedrooms, a circular living room, family and billiards rooms, a library, and a screening room. The property also includes two kitchens, catering to both practicality and lavish entertaining.

Outdoors, the Razor House is equally impressive with amenities such as a heated pool, a spa, an outdoor kitchen, a rooftop terrace, and a spacious garage. Additionally, there is a detached guest house featuring two bedrooms, perfect for accommodating visitors or additional living space.

The identity of the new buyer, represented by the Altman brothers and Stephen Sweeney of Douglas Elliman, remains undisclosed, and details of the transaction have yet to appear in public property records online. The sale underscores the enduring appeal of architectural masterpieces inspired by cinematic icons and highlights La Jolla’s status as a premier destination for luxury real estate.

The Razor House’s sale at $20.8 million marks a significant transaction in California’s high-end property market, blending the allure of Hollywood-inspired design with the prestige of coastal living. As the legacy of Tony Stark’s fictional mansion continues to captivate imaginations, the real-world Razor House stands as a testament to visionary architecture and unparalleled luxury, setting a new standard for coastal living in Southern California.
