Victor Wembanyama arrived for the Spurs’ Halloween matchup vs. the Suns in full costume, as the rookie showed up to Phoenix’s Footprint Center dressed as the ‘Slender Man.’
Given the lanky frame of the ‘Slender Man’,’ one fan joked that the French teenager ‘dressed up as himself.’ Know Your Meme also says that the character can ‘stretch or shorten his arms at will and has tentacle-like appendages protruding from his back.’
The fictional character is described by Know Your Meme as a ‘mythical creature often depicted as a tall, thin figure wearing a black suit and a blank face.’ And the 7-foot-4 Wembanyama followed that to a tee, as he donned a black suit and dress shoes with his face covered by gray spandex.
Wembanyama, the first overall pick in this year’s NBA draft, made his long-awaited NBA debut last week as the Spurs lost to the Mavericks. He tallied 15 points in the contest, and has scored in double figures in every game thus far.
Wembanyama may not quite have those features, but he does boast an outrageous eight-foot wingspan which has made him an instant stud on defense. Through three games with the Spurs, he’s averaging 1.7 blocks and two steals per game. He’s also hauled down 7.3 rebounds per contest.
