Serial killer Gary Ridgeway, popularly known as the Green River Killer, carried out more than fifty murders between 1982 and 1998.
There have been many serial killers in the world but there is hardly any murderer like Gary Ridgeway. How is this not praising the criminal but giving the hallmark of his crimes? Gary Ridgeway has committed more than 70 murders in his criminal history, 48 of which he has been sentenced to life imprisonment 48 times. In this sentence, there was no benefit of any facility like payroll.
Gary, living in America, was born on 18 February 1949 in Salt Lake City. 18-year-old Gary started a job in the army as soon as he finished schooling and after graduating he married his girlfriend. He started having sex with sex workers while in the army. Due to all this, he had to listen to the scolding of his superiors several times, but Gary was fired from the army a few days later due to his behavior.
After this, Gary Ridgeway returned to the city and started painting work here. During this time, a craze ran in his mind and he started committing the murder . Gary made more than 50 women his victim between 1982 and 1998. After this, the bodies of those women were thrown in the Green River of King County.Gary was first suspected by police in 1983, when the body of a sex worker, Mary Malver, was found in Green River. Because Mary’s boyfriend last saw her in Gary’s car. Talking to him in this matter, Gary refused to recognize the woman. In November of 1983, again questioned about the corpses, but Gary escaped. He even passed the polygraph test .
During police interrogation in 1987, Gary himself admitted that he had relationships with several women, mostly sex workers. While on the one hand the police was engaged in interrogation around Gary, on the other hand the process of finding dead bodies was going on in Green River. After this, in 1987, the police wanted to investigate the DNA of Gary Ridgeway. Washington State Patrol Crime Lab scientist Beverly Himick, who was associated with the case, told the New York Times at the time that the dead bodies found in Green River were the last way to catch the murderer.
In 1987, when the needle of the police had turned towards Gary Ridgeway, but solid evidence was still to be collected. At that time, a lot of time passed by the time the DNA sample test report came and there was a pile of dead bodies. But the sample taken by the police matched with the samples of three victims. After this the murderer was in front of everyone. After getting evidence in the case, Gary was called the Green River Killer .In 2001, Gary was arrested and admitted that more than 70 women were murdered by him. Even after so many confessions, the police had found evidence of only 49 murders. At the same time , the court sentenced this dreaded serial killer to life imprisonment 48 times in 48 cases and after that he was sent to Washington jail.
