RADIO 1 Newsbeat presenter Roisin Hastie has revealed she’s expecting her first baby live on air on Thursday morning. The radio star took to Instagram to pose with her blossoming bump after sharing the news with her fans listening at home.
Roisin, who presents Breakfast radio with co-host Greg James, spilled the beans on the show as her co-hosts screamed with joy. “Finally, we go to Roisin who is from The Wirral, and in the studio is sat in front of me,” Greg, 36, introduced his co-star.
She then announced to the Newsbeat listeners: “It’s probably about time you all knew that I am having a baby.” Greg could be heard cheering before adding: “We realised we hadn’t told any of the listeners yet and it was getting stupid.”
“Actually, Greg you knew before my parents,” Rosie added. “It was just early morning work stuff, I had to tell you I’m pregnant.” Roisin went on to post the clip of her announcement to Instagram as well as a photo of her in the studio showing her bump.
“So special getting to share the best news ever on air today,” she said, pointing towards her bump in a leopard-print jumpsuit. “We are so overwhelmed by all the lovely messages, thank you. Little pumpkin due the end of October.”
Her friends and fans took to the comments section to congratulate her, including co-stars Charlie Hedges and Arielle Free. It comes after DJ Rickie Haywood-Williams revealed his girlfriend is pregnant – also live on air on Greg James’ Breakfast Show.
The happy news came just a week after his co-host Charlie Hedges announced she is expecting live on Greg James’ Breakfast Show. Dad-of-two Rickie, 41, shared a picture of him cuddling his girlfriend, who he recently referred to as his soulmate, as she cradled her bump.
She was glowing in a red satin dress as she beamed for the happy picture as Rickie said: “Baby is on the way!” He added on his Instagram story: “I’m going to be a new dad again.”
