Daddy Yankee and Peacock have unveiled the trailer for their upcoming docuseries, Reggaeton: The Sound that Conquered the World, set to premiere on October 3. This four-part series delves into the origins and evolution of reggaeton, featuring insights from some of the genre’s most prominent stars, including Bad Bunny, Karol G, Ivy Queen, J Balvin, and Feid.
Directed by Emmy-nominated Omar Acosta, known for the hip-hop documentary Mixtape, the docuseries aims to showcase how reggaeton has transformed from its roots in Puerto Rico into a global cultural phenomenon. In addition to Daddy Yankee, who serves as executive producer, the project involves a team of producers including Simran A Singh, Mayna Nevarez, Raphy Pina, Barak Moffitt, Alice Webb, Daniel Seliger, David Kennedy, and Nick Quested. The series is produced by Mercury Studios, Saboteur Media, and El Cartel.
Following his farewell tour, La Meta (The Goal), in December, Daddy Yankee announced his retirement from performing to focus on his faith. He plans to share more about his journey in his upcoming memoir, ReaDY! The Power To Change Your Story, set for release next year via HarperCollins. “I am very excited to present you the first physical copy of my book… where I share many personal experiences, life testimonies, and lessons learned throughout my life,” he shared in a recent post.
