As Glass Animals rides the wave of success from their latest album, I Love You So Fking Much, lead vocalist Dave Bayley reflects on his deep connection to India and the impact of their viral hit “Heat Waves.”
Bayley, who first visited India as a teenager, has expressed a strong desire to return with his band. “I visited India when I was 16 and fell in love with the country,” he shares. The band had hoped to tour India before the album’s release but faced scheduling challenges. “We want to spend a good amount of time there and give it the attention it deserves,” he adds.
The British indie-pop band, known for their hit single “Heat Waves,” has seen their music achieve tremendous popularity, especially during the pandemic. Bayley reflects on the song’s success, noting, “It’s surreal to see something I wrote in my bedroom become so big. It’s amazing and gives me the confidence to continue writing honest and personal music.”
In addition to discussing their music, Bayley praised Indian artists who are making waves internationally. He highlighted the achievements of late rapper Sidhu Moosewala, Canadian singer-rapper AP Dhillon, and the renowned Diljit Dosanjh. “Indian musicians are crushing it,” Bayley says. He also expressed admiration for iconic figures like Ravi Shankar and A.R. Rahman, whose work has influenced him deeply.
As Glass Animals continues to enjoy global success, Bayley’s affection for India and its vibrant music scene remains evident. The band looks forward to their eventual return to perform for Indian fans, promising a memorable experience when they do.
