As Team USA sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson competes in the Paris Olympics, where she easily advanced from the opening heat of the 100m dash and prepares for the semifinal round on Saturday, she took a moment to reflect on her Dallas roots.
Richardson, a proud Dallas native and Carter High School alumna from Oak Cliff, recently shared her top local food spots in a post on Instagram, revealing her culinary favorites from her hometown.
For chicken tenders, Richardson recommends Golden Chick, a beloved chain founded near Austin in 1967. Now headquartered in Richardson, Golden Chick boasts over 200 locations across the southern U.S.
When it comes to pizza, Richardson’s choice is Big T Plaza in Oak Cliff. “If you know, you know Dallas,” she quipped about the shopping center known for its diverse offerings and local vibe.
For burgers, she opts for Blackjack Pizza, which the Dallas Observer has dubbed as home to “one of the most slept-on burgers in Dallas.”
Richardson also favors Fuel City Tacos for tacos. Located just south of downtown on Riverfront Blvd., Fuel City is famous for its quick and affordable street tacos.
“There’s so many places, that’s why when I got home I have to control myself,” Richardson said about her food choices.
In addition to her favorite eateries, Richardson highlighted Carter High School as a sentimental spot. “If I’m back home, and I want to unwind and be to myself, I’m going to my home track, from my high school,” she said. “I’m gonna go back to my home track and just sit there and take in the beginning and look at where I am now.”
