During his headline performance at the “Beach, Please!” festival in Costinesti, Romania, US rapper Wiz Khalifa was arrested after being found in possession of over 18 grams of cannabis. Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors (DIICOT) stated that Khalifa was also observed consuming cannabis on stage.
In response to the incident, Khalifa expressed regret for any unintended disrespect to Romania, acknowledging the police’s respectful handling of his arrest. He assured fans that he plans to return without incident in the future.
Khalifa’s arrest occurred amidst an anti-drug campaign at the festival, organized in part by YouTuber Andrei Selaru and supported by the Romanian Interior Ministry. In Romania, cannabis possession is considered a serious offense with potential legal consequences.
This incident echoes previous legal issues faced by American artists in Europe regarding cannabis possession, including Nicki Minaj’s detention earlier this year in Amsterdam.
