A 38-year-old Indian, who was a frontline worker in the fight against Corona in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has defeated death and has been discharged from the hospital after six months. Fight to death through Artificial Lungs
Arunkumar M Nair, who served as an OT technician, fought his six-month-long battle against the corona virus with the help of an artificial lung and during this time he was supported by the ECMO machine. During this he had to go through many complex problems including heart attack. He also had to undergo several medical procedures like tracheostomy and bronchoscopy.
Healthcare group gave financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh
Recognizing his service and fighting ability to the nation, the multinational healthcare group ‘VPS Healthcare’ provided financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh to this Indian citizen. According to a statement issued by the hospital, his colleagues in the emirate handed over the aid money to him at a ceremony held at Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. The hospital group will also provide a job to his wife and will bear the cost of their child’s education.
Arunkumar M Nayyar hails from Kerala
Arunkumar M Nair, a resident of Kerala, was shifted to the general ward of the hospital a month ago. He was on life support system in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital for five months. Nayyar said, ‘I do not remember anything. All I know is that I have escaped from the ‘jaw’ of death. It is only because of the prayers of my family, friends and hundreds of others that I am alive.
M Nayyar’s recovery a miracle: Doctor
Dr. Tarig Ali Mohammad Alhasan, Head of the Department of Cardiology, Burjeel Hospital, said that Nayyar’s condition was bad from day one. Dr. Alhasan had treated Nayar from the very beginning. He said that for him, Nayar’s recovery was like a miracle, as it is usually impossible. Nayyar will soon go to India with his family and meet his parents and continue his physiotherapy there. He is confident that he will be back on the job again next month.
