Creator Julian Fellowes, who won an Academy Award for his screenplay for the film Gosford Park, will compose the content, while My Week With Marilyn chief Simon Curtis will be behind the camera. The principal cast has returned, with new additions to Downton Abbey 2 including Laura Haddock and Dominic West. Carnival Films will deliver, with Focus Features and Universal Pictures International distributing. Exceptionally anticipated feature film continuation Downton Abbey: A New Era sees its release date move to late Spring 2022. The film, also known as Downton Abbey 2, will be a spin-off of the principal Downton Abbey film, a spinoff of the tremendously effective British historical drama TV series of the same name, which hit theaters in 2019 and netted more than $194 million. The show ran six seasons on ITV in the UK, and PBS in the United States, and wrapped in 2015, following a Christmas Special. The storyline was then continued in the original Downton Abbey film four years later, and, as detailed by Focus Features, the spin-off film will hit the UK on April 29, and the US on May 20, two months after its original release date.
